Thermodynamic Characterization of Gas Mixtures for Non-Thermal Plasma CO<sub>2</sub> Conversion Applications with Soft-SAFT

Carbon dioxide (CO2) transformation into added-value products through non-thermal plasma (NTP) represents a novel technology of interest. The process involves, apart from CO2, mixtures different gases such as carbon monoxide (CO), oxygen (O2), nitrogen (N2), argon (Ar), and hydrogen (H2) for subsequent CO2 methanation. In this work, preliminary study the thermodynamic representation relevant in context capture, utilization, storage (CCUS) processes, but focused on NTP conversion, is presented. characterization achieved application polar soft-statistical associating fluid theory (SAFT) equation state (EoS), which allows molecular parameterization pure compounds description at conditions temperature pressure. An accurate parametrization all carried out by explicitly considering quadrupolar nature CO, N2. then used to describe several single-phase densities, derivative properties, second virial coefficients, vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) binary with Ar, O2, N2, H2, well combinations between some these gases. A parametric analysis impact parameters equilibria assess dependency. results have overall shown good agreement experimental data most using one or two parameters. Finally, ternary systems involving N2 been predicted data, demonstrating capacity model evaluate behavior multicomponent gas mixtures.
